2020 Spring Congress *canceled*

April 30 - May 3, 2020

Wyndham Gettysburg

95 Presidential Cir.
Gettysburg, PA 17325

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, we have made the decision to err on the side of caution and cancel the POA Spring Congress scheduled from April 30-May 3 at the Wyndham Gettysburg.

We know that the event is still weeks away, but we have to work with the information we currently have, which is that the CDC, Governor Tom Wolf, and the President are recommending limiting the number of people in one location to prevent the spread of the virus. The CDC has recommended that the restrictions remain in place for at least eight weeks, and the President has suggested that we may be dealing with issues related to the virus through August.

For those of you who have made hotel reservations, the Wyndham Gettysburg will cancel those reservations and you will receive a confirmation shortly. If you have any uncertainty about the cancellation, please call the hotel at 717-339-0020. All registered doctors will be receiving an email from the POA office regarding their registration fees. We encourage those of you who have registered to consider transferring those fees toward registration for the POA's fall event at Seven Springs Resort in October. We will work diligently to get the registration information up on our website as soon as possible so you can make arrangements.

We understand that members have concerns regarding how they are going to obtain continuing education credit for license renewal. Our plan is to extend our scheduled Seven Springs meeting through October 25 (originally October 23 & 24) and pack as many CE hours into the schedule as we can. We will also be offering exhibit hours for those companies who were scheduled to attend the Spring Congress. At this time, we have no answers to the many questions that members have about the license renewal process, the extension of the deadline, or the expansion of the number of online hours allowed. This information is being discussed by the State Board of Optometry and, as soon as decisions are made, the information will be available on both the State Board and POA websites.

During these uncertain times, it has never been more important for the POA and its members to stand together to make sure we all come out of the other side of this unprecedented event in as good of a position as possible. Please check your email, your texts, and the POA website as we will be updating available information frequently. Please do not hesitate to contact Ilene (Ilene@poaeyes.org) at the POA office (717-233-6455) with questions related to these meetings.

Together, WE ARE POA.
