How Eyesight Interlinks with Cognition; Advanced Vision Care from the Retina through the Brain   



The relationship between vision and cognition is deeply intertwined. For many optometrists, this relationship remains a gray area. Over time, research has brought to the surface the many complex neural pathways that enable humans to see and interact with their visual world. Historically, benchmark cognitive testing has been conducted by trained technicians, lending to demographic biases as well as both false positive and false negative results. Recent technological advancements have drastically improved the quality and accuracy of cognitive testing and have enabled cognitive testing to be a formative component of the optometrist's repertoire of patient care.
